Day at the Zoo

Emily and I went to the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls on Saturday. It was perfect Zoo weather. Not windy, not cold, but not too hot so all the animals were out; when it's too hot the animals seem to just hide in their caves. It was sunny with blue skies...perfect!

Right when we walked in there was a peacock walking around on the path and Emily thought that was pretty awesome. She squatted down and put her arms out, trying to lure him to her but he just kept walking so she started following him, but he walked much faster than her.When she realized he wasn't coming back she got pretty upset, but once she realized that she was surrounded by all those animals and fun things she got over it pretty quickly.

Emily really liked the Children's Zoo. They had goats and other little farm animals. She thought they were pretty funny!

Emily liked the Tiger statue more than the real tigers-I think they were too far away for her to really get a good look at them so she didn't care for them too much. But she sure loved this statue! She kept trying to feed him bark chips.

This little cat is called a Serval, and he was Emily's FAVORITE. We stood at this exhibit for a long time. He was right at Emily's eye level and he kept walking back and forth in front of her. These pictures don't do her excitement any justice. She kept going "oooh oooh oooh" and kissing the glass, and dancing around. It was adorable!

Emily had no interest in the lions-real or statue but I think they were my favorite!

Emily really liked the zebras too-there were tons of them!

The stroller at the Zoo was practically pointless. Emily did not want to be in it-she wanted to be out and about, free to go where she desired. She loved to push it herself though!

This was the Otter exhibit, they weren't in the water so there was nothing to look at here, but I think Emily was convinced there was something amazing in there because I couldn't pull her away!

Emily thought the Monkeys were really funny. Whenever they'd move, jump, swing or anything she'd just giggle and giggle.

Spring has finally begun to spring here in Idaho. Blossoms are starting to appear on the trees, although there are still a lot that are bare. I'm sure within a week or so there's going to be blossoms all over the place!

Emily and I had such a fun time together, and we can't wait to take Dad to the Zoo when he gets home. Steve has been gone nearly a week now, and I'm having such a hard time! I miss him so much and can't wait for him to come home. He's doing his internship at a mine in Winnemucca, Nevada so he'll be gone most of the summer. He'll get to come home every two or three weeks so it's not that bad, but it's still hard not having him here. He's having a really hard time being away from his "Emmer Bemmer" (his nickname for Emily). She misses him tons. She walks around the house looking in each room saying "Daaaad...Daaaaaad!". She hasn't quite been herself the last few days and my Mother in law thinks it's because she's missing him and I'm pretty sure she's right. Steve and Emily have had the closest connection and bond since the day she was born. She's always been Daddy's little girl that's for sure. We miss you Dad and can't wait till you come home!
