This weekend we decided to attempt our first camping trip with Emily. We went to our favorite camping spot up past Green Canyon, and it was so beautiful up there.
Emily did pretty well at first. She played on the blanket during dinner, and took a nap afterwards in the tent with some help from Dad.
Then Dad gave her a bottle and afterwards spent some time around the campfire with Mom.
Emily was so warm and snuggly in her Padagonia, but she didn't seem to enjoy too well. Then Emily went to bed and Steve and I spent some time laying on the blanket, watching the stars come out and listening to the Moose call across the ridge (eerie...). Then we headed to bed, but Emily had woken up and wouldn't go back to sleep. At about 3am Emily was still awake and fussy, so we decided to pack up and take the hour drive home; what a night. Even though it didn't turn out like we hoped we still had a great time spending time together as a family. No matter what happens you can always make the best of the situation, so on the drive home instead of being upset we talked about all the funny things Emily had done that night and laughed the whole way home.

You'll talk about Emily's first camping trip for a long, long time. You're building tons of memories and that is what families are all about. You guys are so cute and such wonderful parents. Emily is a lucky girl.

That is so cool that you tried camping. We took Shelby on her first camp out last weekend. It did not go well. Luke and Kevin had a great time. But Shelby was up all night, and so was I. She will not sleep unless she is in her bed. Emily is sooooo cute. I hope we can hang out some time soon. Oh, and congrats on getting a new house. That is great!!
LOL...yeah, camping with tiny ones is not exactly my idea of fun... :) but we are going to try it again with Sam in 3 weeks, now that he will be 18 months old! I always love your blog!
